A letter of appreciation from Tom Conroy, Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management, NASA Federal Credit Union.

A letter of appreciation from Tom Conroy, NASA FCU.Dear WaterSignal,

The NASA Federal Credit Union has been using the WaterSignal alert system here at our 55,000 sqft. facility since April of 2014. We also installed a sub-meter on our HVAC cooling tower just prior to the implementation of the alert system because it had the potential for the most water waste. Prior to the installation, we had an excursion of 177,000 gallons over normal use in one month because of a stuck solenoid valve. The cost of the wasted water was $2,000.

WaterSignal installed the system and monitored the usage and customized an alert system to our 24/7 needs. We now can react to the alerts in a proactive manner and save thousands of gallons of water. It gives you the heartbeat of the facility. You can see usage of a few hundred gallons of domestic water at 3:00 AM and know that you have some leaking restroom appliances.

It would be hard to estimate the avoided costs because the dozen or so alerts that we have had over the past couple of years has enabled us to proactively investigate and find the source of the losses. Prior to the installation we were using an average of 900,000 gallons a year; for the past two years, we have averaged 700,000 gallons.

I don’t know how any Facility Manager can manage effectively without this system.

Tom Conroy
